JFK assassination documents released, except for . . .

It’s now been 59 fucking years since JFK was gunned down in Dallas on November 22, 1963.

Thousands of pages of government files were released today, but it seems the CIA just can’t let go.

According to the Washington Post, “The CIA spokesperson justified the continued redaction of some documents, saying they contain information that details CIA intelligence sources and methods — some from as late as the late-1990s, given to help provide context about the CIA’s methods and terminology.” (My italics.)

In other words, the top intelligence community in the United States still uses “sources and methods” and “intelligence sources” from 1963? Did I understand that right?

I’m 70-years old and I was in elementary school when JFK was assassinated. Almost everyone associated with the assassination, who was an adult in 1963, is dead.

The next release date is set for June 30, 2023, according to the president, and I don’t know how Biden can say something like that with a straight face.

Of course, the original important documents have either been destroyed or were never committed to writing.

Oh, but the feds would never do that.

Ask FBI agent James P. Hosty — dead ten years now — about a handwritten note from Lee Harvey Oswald in 1963. “Oswald wrote Hosty a hostile note to protest the alleged harassment of Marina. (Oswald also had Hosty’s name, phone number, and car license plate number in his address book.) Hosty failed to tell the Warren Commission the truth about Oswald’s hostile letter because he had destroyed it.”

“We’ll know our disinformation program is complete when everything the American public believes is false.” — CIA Director William Casey.

(Dear old — dead — William Casey. Up to his ass in Iran-Contra war crimes, Casey died of a previously undiagnosed brain tumor inside the CIA headquarters in Langley, Virginia. Very fortunate for St. Ronald Reagan. By then Ronnie had been declared the patron saint of dementia and probably really couldn’t remember trading arms to Iran.)

The JFK assassination is all the explanation anyone needs to understand why Americans are so conditioned to believe in conspiracy theories.

The Moon landing truthers.

The 9/11 truthers.

The 2020 election truthers.

The January 6 truthers.

(And that doesn’t include the batshit crazy QAnon conspiracy morons looking for cannibalistic satanists.)

Conversely, let’s remember:

The FBI’s CONINTELPRO.

(A series of covert and illegal projects actively conducted by the United States Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) aimed at surveilling, infiltrating, discrediting, and disrupting domestic American political organizations that the FBI deemed subversive, including anti–Vietnam War organizers, activists of the civil rights movement, environmentalist and animal rights organizations, the American Indian Movement (AIM), and Chicano and Mexican-American groups like the Brown Berets and the United Farm Workers.)

Or the CIA’s Operation Northwoods.

(The operation recommended developing a “Communist Cuban terror campaign in the Miami area, in other Florida cities and even in Washington”, which involved the bombing of civilian targets themselves, which was to be blamed on the “irresponsible” Cuban government to paint a false image of Fidel Castro and misinform the American public.

Or the CIA’s Operation Mongoose.

(An extensive campaign of terrorist attacks against civilians and covert operations, like planting a bomb on a Cuban airliner: Cubana de Aviación Flight 455, in 1976.)

And the CIA’s refusal to release all the files on the JFK assassination.

Lee Harvey Oswald claimed he was “just a patsy.” He was wrong. The real patsy in the Kennedy assassination is the American public.
